The new version of IEC 60335-1:2020+A1:2025, based on market demand, specifies the testing requirements and compliance conditions for the tilt test in section 20.1 by using a bottom suction cup structure to pass the test.

The testing of portable devices should be carried out in the most unfavorable combination state with their legs, suction cups, and similar components removed, unless these components are non removable. For portable devices that rely on suction cups to maintain stability, a test should also be conducted to ensure that all suction cups, in any combination, remain in a failed state.

Note:

1. If the suction cup is detachable (such as not meeting the testing requirements of 22.11 or if the instruction manual requires the suction cup to be removed for cleaning purposes), it needs to be removed;

2. If the product is portable, the suction cup needs to be deactivated according to the following method before conducting a tilt test:

The following are examples of methods to disable suction cups, with the core principle being to break the vacuum seal formed between the suction cup and the contact surface, thereby causing it to lose its suction force.

Using perforated surfaces as slopes: Holes allow air to continuously enter the suction cup, preventing the formation of an initial negative pressure (vacuum) environment.

Sprinkle flour or other powder on the inclined surface: The powder will form tiny gaps between the suction cup and the surface, breaking the tightness of the seal and causing air to seep in.

Drilling holes on the suction cup body: This is the most direct method, artificially creating a permanent leak point that makes the suction cup fundamentally unable to maintain vacuum.
