The Lixun Testing Technology Team completed the submission of PMTA on October 19th, which was accepted and filed by the FDA in just 16 days. On November 3rd, they successfully obtained the FDA's Acceptance Letter acceptance notification.
PMTA is an application required by the FDA under Section 910 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&CA) for new tobacco products (including e-cigarettes) to be submitted prior to market launch. The purpose is to ensure that the risks and benefits of new tobacco products, such as electronic cigarette devices and e-liquids, have been evaluated before marketing to protect public health. Electronic cigarettes are classified as ENDS products and typically require market authorization through the PMTA pathway, as most products do not have benchmark products that meet the 'Physical Equivalence' (SE) pathway.
(1) Compliance filing certificate: FDA issues an Acceptance Letter, indicating that the application materials have passed the official formal review, and the completeness of the materials meets the acceptance requirements. The project is included in the FDA's official review sequence and is exempt from initial rejection.
(2) Market access prerequisite: After the acceptance letter is issued, the review enters the substantive examination stage, which is the primary condition for the product to obtain US listing authorization and achieve compliant commercialization.
(3) Cross border trade support document: This document can be used for customs clearance inspection and overseas channel docking, helping enterprises reduce cross-border business risks such as goods seizure and administrative penalties.
