2.4G/5G WiFi/Bluetooth product testing

Wi Fi signals are transmitted through radio waves and operate on both 2.4G and 5G frequency bands. The 2.4GHz frequency band supports 802.11b/g/n/a, while the 5GHz frequency band supports 802.11a/n/ac/ax. Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard that enables short-range data exchange between fixed devices, mobile devices, and building personal area networks (using UHF radio waves in the ISM band of 2.4-2.485GHz). Bluetooth can connect multiple devices, overcoming the challenge of data synchronization.

Wi Fi and Bluetooth are two widely used wireless communication technologies that operate in the 2.4GHz frequency band, but have significant differences in application scenarios, technical characteristics, and protocol standards. Here is a detailed comparison between Wi Fi and Bluetooth:

Wi-Fi

Working frequency band:

2.4GHz frequency band:

Supports 802.11b/g/n standards.

It has a wide coverage area and strong penetration ability, but is susceptible to interference (such as microwave ovens, Bluetooth devices, etc.).

5GHz frequency band:

Supports 802.11a/n/ac/ax standards.

Higher transmission rate, less interference, but weaker coverage and penetration capability.

Transmission rate:

2.4GHz frequency band: up to 600Mbps (802.11n).

5GHz frequency band: up to 9.6Gbps (802.11ax, Wi Fi 6).

Coverage Area:

Usually ranging from tens to hundreds of meters, depending on the environment (such as obstacles) and antenna design.

power waste:

Relatively high, suitable for devices connected to power sources (such as routers, laptops, smart TVs).

Application Scenario:

Internet access (e.g. home, office, public place).

Wide range wireless local area network (WLAN).

High bandwidth applications (such as video streaming, online gaming, file transfer).

Network topology:

Usually, a star topology structure is used, and devices are connected through access points (APs).

safety

Supports encryption protocols such as WPA3 and WPA2, with high security.

Bluetooth

Working frequency band:

2.4GHz frequency band:

Use the ISM band of 2.4-2.485GHz.

Shared frequency band with Wi Fi, but reduced interference through frequency hopping technology.

Transmission rate:

Bluetooth 5.0: up to 2Mbps.

Bluetooth 5.3: Further optimized transmission efficiency and reliability.

Coverage Area:

Classic Bluetooth: typically 10 meters (Class 2), up to 100 meters (Class 1).

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE): The coverage range is relatively short, usually several tens of meters.

power waste:

Classic Bluetooth: High power consumption, suitable for applications such as audio transmission.

Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE): Extremely low power consumption, suitable for battery powered devices such as sensors and wearable devices.

Application Scenario:

Short distance device connections (such as headphones, keyboard, mouse).

IoT devices (such as smart homes, health monitoring devices).

Data transmission (such as file sharing, device synchronization).

Network topology:

Support point-to-point (one-to-one) and broadcast (one to many) communication.

Supports Mesh Networking (Bluetooth 5.0 and above).

safety

Supports AES encryption and pairing authentication, with high security.

summary

Wi Fi: suitable for high bandwidth and wide range application scenarios, such as Internet access, video transmission, etc.

Bluetooth: Suitable for low-power, short-range device connections such as headphones, keyboards, sensors, etc.

Both have their own advantages and are usually used interchangeably in modern devices. For example, smart phones support both Wi Fi and Bluetooth for Internet access and peripheral device connection.
