Dust prevention (IP5X, IP6X)

The main purpose of this experiment is to determine the degree of protection of the sample against the intrusion of fine dust.

Dust proof test (IP5X, IP6X)
Objective of the experiment
Determine the degree of protection of the sample against fine dust intrusion.

Experimental standards
According to the IEC 60529 standard, IP5X and IP6X respectively represent different dust protection levels:

IP5X: Dustproof, cannot completely prevent dust from entering, but the amount of dust entering is not enough to affect the normal operation of the equipment.

IP6X: Dust tight, completely preventing dust from entering.

Experimental equipment
Dustproof Test Chamber

Talc powder (used to simulate dust)

Vacuum pump (for IP6X testing)

barometer

Sample fixing device

Experimental Procedure
Sample preparation:

Clean the surface of the sample to ensure there is no dust or other contaminants.

Fix the sample inside the test chamber.

IP5X testing:

Spread talcum powder in the test chamber to ensure a concentration of 2kg/m ³.

Start the test chamber and circulate the talc powder inside for 8 hours.

After stopping the experiment, check whether there is talcum powder entering the interior of the sample.

IP6X testing:

Spread talcum powder in the test chamber to ensure a concentration of 2kg/m ³.

Start the vacuum pump to make the pressure inside the test chamber lower than the external pressure for 8 hours.

After stopping the experiment, check whether there is talcum powder entering the interior of the sample.

Result evaluation:

IP5X: A small amount of talc powder is allowed to enter the interior of the sample, but it does not affect the operation of the equipment.

IP6X: There should be no talcum powder entering the interior of the sample.

Precautions
Ensure that the test chamber is well sealed to avoid external dust interference.

The concentration of talc powder and the testing time need to be strictly controlled to ensure the accuracy of the test results.

The internal inspection of the sample needs to be meticulous to avoid missing small dust particles.

Experimental Record
Record the test conditions (such as talc concentration, test time, air pressure, etc.).

Record the internal inspection results of the sample and take photos for archiving.

Conclusion
Based on the experimental results, determine whether the sample meets the dust protection requirements of IP5X or IP6X, and issue the corresponding test report.

Through this experiment, the dustproof performance of the sample can be effectively evaluated to ensure its reliability in dusty environments.
