Low voltage connector

The design and manufacturing of low-voltage connectors (such as plugs, sockets, terminals, etc. used for low-voltage electrical equipment) need to meet a series of strict safety and performance requirements to ensure their reliability, safety, and durability in low-voltage environments. The following are detailed requirements for low-voltage connectors in terms of labeling, anti electric shock protection, grounding protection, etc.:

1. Logo
Clear and durable: The markings on the connector (such as rated voltage, current, manufacturer information, etc.) should be clear, easy to read, and durable, and not easily worn or detached under normal use conditions.

Compliance with standards: The content of the logo should comply with relevant national or international standards (such as IEC 60417, GB/T 5465, etc.).

2. Anti electric shock protection
Shell protection: The shell of the connector should be able to prevent users from accidentally coming into contact with live parts, usually achieved through insulation materials or protective covers.

Hole restriction: The holes on the shell should meet the standard requirements to prevent fingers or tools from entering and contacting live parts.

Protection level: It should meet the requirements of IP (Ingress Protection) protection level, such as IP20, IP44, etc.

3. Grounding protection
Grounding terminal: The connector should be equipped with a reliable grounding terminal to ensure grounding continuity.

Grounding marking: The grounding terminal should have clear markings (such as the grounding symbol "⏚").

Grounding resistance: The grounding resistance should meet the standard requirements (usually less than 0.1 Ω).

4. Prevent accidental insertion
Design to prevent accidental insertion: The interface design of the connector should prevent plugs of different polarities from being mistakenly inserted, usually achieved through physical structures such as slots of different shapes or sizes.

Color identification: Use color identification to distinguish interfaces with different functions (such as L, N, PE lines).

5. Connection of wires
Reliable connection: The wire connection should be firm to prevent loosening or detachment.

Wiring terminals: Wiring terminals should be suitable for wire specifications and provide sufficient clamping force.

Insulation protection: The connection should have insulation protection to prevent short circuit or electric shock.

6. Structure
Mechanical strength: The structure of the connector should have sufficient mechanical strength to withstand the stress during installation and use.

Durable materials: The outer shell and internal structural materials should be corrosion-resistant and aging resistant.

Easy installation: The design should be easy to install and maintain.

7. Resistant to aging, moisture, solid foreign objects, and harmful water ingress
Aging resistance: The material should be able to withstand environmental factors such as ultraviolet radiation and high temperature to avoid aging failure.

Moisture proof and waterproof: It should meet the requirements of IP protection level (such as IP44, IP65, etc.) to prevent moisture and water from entering.

Preventing solid foreign objects: The casing should be able to prevent dust and solid foreign objects from entering.

8. Insulation resistance and electrical strength
Insulation resistance: Under standard testing conditions, the insulation resistance should meet the requirements (usually greater than 10M Ω).

Electrical strength: It should be able to withstand the specified withstand voltage test (such as 1500V/1 minute) without breakdown.

9. Mechanical strength
Impact resistance: The shell should be able to withstand a certain mechanical impact without breaking.

Pressure resistance: It should be able to withstand a certain amount of pressure without deformation or damage.

10. Temperature rise
Temperature limit: Under rated load, the temperature rise of the connector should meet the standard requirements (usually not exceeding 50K).

Material heat resistance: The material should be able to withstand high temperatures without deformation or failure.

11. Heat resistance
High temperature resistance: The connector should be able to work normally in high temperature environments, and the material should not soften or deform.

Heat resistance test: Verify the heat resistance of the material through tests such as ball pressure test.

12. Electrical clearance and creepage distance
Electrical clearance: The minimum air distance between live parts should meet the standard requirements.

Creepage distance: The minimum distance along the insulation surface should meet the standard requirements to prevent arcing or leakage.

13. Resistance to abnormal heat and flame of insulation materials
Flame resistance: The insulation material should have flame retardant properties and pass the hot wire test or needle flame test.

Resistance to abnormal heat: The material should be able to withstand short-term overheating without burning or releasing harmful gases.

14. Electrical trace resistance of insulation materials
Tracking resistance: Insulation materials should be able to withstand tracking phenomena (such as leakage tracing tests) to prevent surface carbonization from causing short circuits.

15. Corrosion resistance
Corrosion resistance of materials: The outer shell and internal metal components should be corrosion-resistant (such as salt spray test).

Surface treatment: Metal components should undergo anti-corrosion treatment (such as galvanizing, spraying).

16. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements
Anti interference: The connector should be able to resist external electromagnetic interference (such as electrostatic discharge, radio frequency interference).

Low radiation: The connector should not generate excessive electromagnetic radiation, which may affect the normal operation of other devices.

Compliance with standards: It should comply with relevant EMC standards (such as GB/T 17626, IEC 61000 series).

summary
The design and manufacturing of low-voltage connectors require comprehensive consideration of various factors such as electrical safety, mechanical strength, and environmental adaptability. By meeting the above requirements, the reliability, safety, and durability of low-voltage connectors can be ensured in various application scenarios.
