Stability test

Except for fixed and handheld devices, devices intended for use on a surface such as the ground or tabletop should have sufficient stability.

Stability testing is an important safety test for non fixed and non handheld devices, aimed at ensuring that the device has sufficient stability during normal use and avoiding danger caused by tipping or sliding. The following are the key points of stability testing:

1. Test purpose

Evaluate the stability of the equipment under normal usage conditions.

Ensure that the equipment does not tilt or slide when tilted or subjected to external forces, thereby avoiding danger to the user or the surrounding environment.

2. Scope of application

Non fixed appliances: such as floor standing fans, microwave ovens, washing machines, etc.

Non handheld appliances: such as desktop mixers, rice cookers, etc.

Place on surfaces such as floors, tabletops, countertops, etc.

3. Testing standards

Stability testing is usually conducted according to the following standards:

IEC 60335-1: Safety requirements for household and similar electrical appliances.

UL 60335-1: Safety Standard for Household and Similar Electrical Appliances.

The specific standards may vary depending on the product type and application field.

4. Testing methods

Tilt test:

Place the equipment on a designated testing surface (such as a horizontal tabletop).

Tilt the test plane to the specified angle (usually 10 ° or 15 °).

Observe whether the instrument tilts or slides.

External force test:

Apply a specified force (such as 20N or 30N) on the top or side of the appliance.

Observe whether the instrument tilts or slides.

Load testing (if applicable):

Apply the maximum allowable load on the appliance (such as an electric kettle filled with water).

Repeat the tilt test or external force test to observe whether the instrument tilts or slides.

5. Qualification assessment

The equipment should meet the following requirements during testing:

Tilt test: The instrument should not tilt or slide at the specified tilt angle.

External force test: The instrument should not tilt or slide after applying the specified external force.

Load test: The instrument should remain stable even when fully loaded.

If the instrument does not tilt or slide during testing, it is considered qualified.

6. Influencing factors

Center of gravity position: The lower the center of gravity of the instrument, the better its stability.

Base design: The area and shape of the base have a significant impact on stability.

Surface friction: The greater the frictional force between the appliance and the placement surface, the better the stability.

Load distribution: Whether the load is evenly distributed and whether it causes the center of gravity to shift.

7. Precautions

Before testing, ensure that the equipment is in normal working condition.

The testing plane should meet the standard requirements (such as levelness, friction coefficient, etc.).

The test results should be comprehensively evaluated based on specific application scenarios.

Summary: Stability testing is an important means of ensuring that non fixed and non handheld devices have sufficient stability during normal use. By evaluating the performance of the device when tilted or subjected to external forces, it ensures that it will not tilt or slide, thereby avoiding danger to the user or the surrounding environment.
