Linear wear

Compare the textile sample with a dry friction cloth and a wet friction cloth respectively, and evaluate the degree of staining of the friction cloth. The abrasion color fastness tester provides two combination test conditions through two optional sizes of friction heads: one for velvet fabrics; A type used for monochrome fabrics or large-area printed fabrics.

Test purpose
Evaluate the color fastness of textile samples under dry and wet friction conditions, detect the degree of staining of friction fabrics, and determine the friction resistance of textiles.

Test Standard
According to the standard:

ISO 105-X12: Textile Color Fastness Test (Color Fastness to Friction)

AATCC 8: Testing Method for Color Fastness of Textiles (Color Fastness to Friction)

GB/T 3920: Textile Color Fastness Test (Color Fastness to Friction)

Test Principle
By using a friction head to perform reciprocating friction on textile samples, simulate the friction effect in daily use, and evaluate the degree of color transfer of the samples to dry and wet friction cloths.

test equipment
Friction color fastness tester

Dry rubbing cloth (white cotton cloth that meets the standard requirements)

Wet rubbing cloth (white cotton cloth that meets standard requirements, used after soaking)

Sample fixing device

Rating gray card (used to evaluate the degree of staining)

Test steps
Sample preparation:

Cut textile samples with dimensions that meet testing requirements (typically 50mm x 140mm).

Prepare dry and wet wiping cloths. The wet wiping cloth should be soaked and wrung dry to a moisture content of 100 ± 5%.

Record the initial state of the sample (taking photos, describing colors, etc.).

Test condition settings:

Friction head size:

Small friction head: used for velvet fabrics.

Large friction head: used for monochrome fabrics or large-area printed fabrics.

Friction frequency: usually 10 reciprocating frictions.

Pressure: Set according to the standard (usually 9N).

Test Run:

Dry friction test:

Fix the dry rubbing cloth onto the friction head.

Fix the textile sample onto the testing apparatus.

Start the tester and perform 10 cycles of reciprocating friction.

Remove the friction cloth and record the staining situation.

Wet friction test:

Fix the wet friction cloth onto the friction head.

Fix the textile sample onto the testing apparatus.

Start the tester and perform 10 cycles of reciprocating friction.

Remove the friction cloth and record the staining situation.

Result evaluation:

Use a rating gray card to evaluate the degree of discoloration of the friction cloth.

Rating range: Level 1 (severe staining) to Level 5 (no staining).

Record the rating results for dry friction and wet friction separately.

Precautions
Ensure that the friction cloth and sample are firmly fixed to avoid displacement during the testing process.

Wet wiping cloth should be evenly soaked to avoid excessive or insufficient moisture content.

After the test is completed, the friction cloth needs to be dried in a standard environment before evaluation.

Test Record
Record the testing conditions (friction head size, friction frequency, pressure, etc.).

Record the initial state of the sample (taking photos, describing colors, etc.).

Record the staining rating results of dry and wet friction.

Conclusion
Based on the test results, evaluate the color fastness to friction of the textile samples and issue a test report. Through this test, important basis can be provided for the design, production, and quality control of textiles, ensuring the color stability of products in practical use.
