Input test

Under normal operation, the current and power of the equipment shall not exceed 10% of the rated value

Input testing is a critical test to evaluate the current and power consumption of equipment under normal operating conditions, ensuring that the equipment operates within its rated range and avoiding issues such as overload or overheating. The following are the key elements and steps of input testing:

1. Test objectives
Current testing: Ensure that the operating current of the equipment does not exceed 10% of the rated value.

Power test: Ensure that the power consumption of the equipment does not exceed 10% of the rated value.

Stability testing: Ensure that the device maintains stable current and power during long-term operation.

2. Testing conditions
Input voltage: Test within the rated voltage range (such as AC 220V ± 10% or DC 12V ± 5%).

Load conditions: The equipment is tested separately under full load, half load, and no-load conditions.

Environmental conditions: Test under standard conditions (such as temperature of 25 ° C and humidity of 50%), or simulate extreme environments (such as high and low temperatures) for additional testing.

3. Testing equipment
Programmable power supply: provides stable input voltage and monitors input current.

Power analyzer: measures the real-time power consumption of equipment.

Current probe: measures the waveform of input current.

Data logger: records the changes in current and power over time.

Load device: Simulate the actual working load of the device.

4. Testing steps
prepare

Set the input voltage to the rated value.

Connect testing equipment (such as power analyzers, current probes).

Empty load test:

The device is not connected to the load, measure the no-load current and power.

Half load test:

Connect the equipment to 50% load and measure the current and power.

Full load test:

Connect the equipment to 100% load and measure current and power.

Long term running test:

The equipment runs for several hours under full load conditions, monitoring whether the current and power are stable.

Extreme condition testing:

Repeat the above test under high temperature, low temperature, or voltage fluctuation conditions.

Data analysis:

Compare the test results with the rated values to ensure that the current and power do not exceed 10% of the rated values.

5. Judgment criteria
Current: Working current ≤ rated current × 110%.

Power: Power consumption ≤ rated power × 110%.

Stability: The fluctuation of current and power during long-term operation does not exceed ± 5%.

6. Improvement measures
Optimize circuit design: reduce power consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Component selection: Choose more efficient components (such as low-power ICs, high-efficiency power modules).

Heat dissipation design: Improve heat dissipation measures to avoid abnormal current or power caused by overheating.

Software optimization: Reduce power consumption through software (such as dynamic frequency regulation, sleep mode).

7. Common standards
IEC 62301: Standard for testing standby power consumption of household appliances.

ENERGY STAR: Energy Efficiency Certification Standard.

GB 20943: Energy Efficiency Standards for Electronic Equipment in China.

8. Precautions
Testing accuracy: Use high-precision testing equipment to ensure accurate data.

Environmental factors: Consider the impact of temperature and humidity on test results.

Load matching: Ensure that the test load matches the actual usage load.

Security protection: Pay attention to overcurrent and overvoltage protection during the testing process to avoid equipment damage.

Through input testing, it can be ensured that the current and power consumption of the equipment meet the design requirements under normal working conditions, avoiding problems such as overload or overheating, and improving the reliability and safety of the equipment.
