ozone

Principle of Ozone Analyzer: The air pump in the analyzer extracts ozone aged air from the test chamber through an air filter, and the three-way solenoid valve converts it. The ozone oxidized air enters the absorption component, and the optical fiber is detected by the sample detector. This new light value 'I' is transmitted to the signal processing circuit for analysis, signal conversion, amplification, calculation processing, etc

Ozone aging test and principle of ozone analyzer

Test purpose

Evaluate the aging performance of materials in ozone environment, and detect whether the materials exhibit degradation phenomena such as cracking, hardening, and brittleness under ozone exposure.

Test Standard

According to the standard:

ISO 1431: Rubber ozone aging resistance test

ASTM D1149: Ozone aging resistance test of rubber under static or dynamic tension

Test Principle

By simulating a high concentration ozone environment, accelerating the aging process of materials, and evaluating the performance changes of materials under the action of ozone.

Principle of Ozone Analyzer

The ozone analyzer is used for real-time monitoring of ozone concentration in the test chamber, and its working principle is as follows:

Air pump extracts gas:

The air pump extracts ozone aged air from the test chamber through a sample air filter.

Three way solenoid valve conversion:

The three-way solenoid valve switches the air path and introduces the odorized air into the absorption component.

Absorption components:

The air that undergoes ozone oxidation enters the absorption component, and the ozone reacts chemically with the absorbent to produce a specific wavelength of light signal.

Fiber optic testing:

The fiber optic sensor detects the light signal generated in the absorption component and transmits the light intensity value "I" to the signal processing circuit.

Signal processing:

The signal processing circuit analyzes, converts, amplifies, and calculates the optical signal to ultimately obtain the ozone concentration value.

Test steps

Sample preparation:

Clean the surface of the sample to ensure that there are no oil stains or other contaminants.

Record the initial state of the sample (photography, mechanical performance testing, etc.).

Fix the sample inside the test chamber, ensuring that the exposed surface faces the ozone airflow.

Test condition settings:

Ozone concentration: set according to demand (usually 25-200 pphm).

Temperature: Set according to demand (usually 40 ± 2 ℃).

Relative humidity: Set according to demand (usually 50 ± 5%).

Testing cycle: Depending on the requirements, it usually ranges from 24 hours to several hundred hours.

Test Run:

Start the ozone generator and adjust it to the target concentration.

Activate the ozone analyzer to monitor ozone concentration in real-time.

Regularly inspect the surface condition of the sample and record environmental data during the testing process.

Test completed:

Take out the sample and restore it to a standard environment for 24 hours.

Record the state of the sample after testing (taking photos, mechanical performance testing, etc.).

Result evaluation:

Appearance changes:

Check whether the sample has cracks, hardening, embrittlement, and other phenomena.

Mechanical performance changes:

Evaluate the changes in properties such as tensile strength and elongation at break of materials.

Microstructure analysis:

Observe surface microstructural changes using a microscope.

Precautions

Ensure stable ozone concentration and avoid concentration fluctuations affecting test results.

Regularly calibrate the ozone analyzer to ensure measurement accuracy.

After the test is completed, the sample needs to be restored to a standard environment before evaluation.

Test Record

Record the testing conditions (ozone concentration, temperature, humidity, testing period, etc.).

Record the initial and post test states of the sample (such as photography, mechanical performance testing, etc.).

Record the specific manifestations of material performance changes.

Conclusion

Based on the test results, evaluate the aging performance of the material in ozone environment and issue a test report. This test can provide important basis for material selection, product design, and improvement.
