Appliance switch

The following is a detailed description of various testing items for appliance switches, covering requirements for labeling, electrical performance, mechanical performance, material performance, and safety. These tests are usually conducted in accordance with international standards such as IEC 61058, GB 15092, etc., to ensure the safety and reliability of appliance switches.

1. Signage for instrument switches
Inspection content: The following information should be clearly and persistently marked on the switch:

Rated voltage (such as 250V)

Rated current (such as 10A, 16A)

Manufacturer's name or trademark

Model or specification

Certification marks (such as CCC, CE, etc.)

Testing method: By visual inspection and wiping test (such as wiping with a cloth soaked in water for 15 seconds, and then wiping with a cloth soaked in gasoline for 15 seconds), ensure that the markings are clear and not easily detached.

2. Anti electric shock protection
Inspection content: The design of the switch should prevent users from accidentally coming into contact with live parts.

Testing method:

Use standard test indicators (such as Type B test indicators of IEC 61032) to check whether the housing and operating components of the switch can prevent electric shock.

Ensure that the switch does not expose any live parts during normal operation.

3. Grounding measures
Inspection content: If the switch has a grounding terminal, ensure the reliability of the grounding connection.

Testing method:

Use a low resistance tester (such as a micro ohmmeter) to measure the resistance between the grounding terminal and the grounding component.

The standard requires that the grounding resistance should usually not exceed 0.1 Ω.

4. Terminals
Inspection content: Check whether the wiring terminals of the switch are firm and can reliably connect the wires.

Testing method:

Use standard wires for connection and check if the terminals can securely fasten the wires without loosening.

Ensure that the terminal can withstand the rated current without overheating.

5. Structural requirements
Inspection content: The structural design of the switch should meet the standard requirements, including the housing, operating components, internal connections, etc.

Testing method:

Check if the casing of the switch is sturdy and if the operating components are flexible.

Ensure reliable connection of internal wires, without looseness or loose connections.

6. Switch mechanism
Inspection content: Check whether the operating mechanism of the switch is flexible and reliable.

Testing method:

Perform multiple switch operations (such as 10000 times) to check if the switch can work properly and is not damaged.

7. Aging resistance and protection provided by switch housing (IP)
Aging resistance test:

Expose the switch to harsh environments such as high temperature and humidity, and test whether its material can maintain its performance.

IP protection level test:

Test the protection level of the switch housing to ensure that it can prevent dust and water from entering.

8. Moisture proof
Inspection content: Test the performance of the switch in humid environments.

Testing method:

Place the switch in a damp box (with a relative humidity of 91%~95% and a temperature of 20 ℃~30 ℃) for 48 hours and check if its insulation performance has decreased.

9. Insulation resistance and electrical strength
Insulation resistance test:

Measure the resistance of the insulation part of the switch to ensure that its insulation performance meets the requirements.

Electrical strength test:

Apply high voltage (such as 2000V) to the switch and test whether its insulation material can withstand the specified voltage without breakdown.

10. Temperature rise
Inspection content: Measure the temperature rise of key parts of the switch when it passes through the rated current.

Testing method:

Use thermocouples or infrared thermometers to measure the temperature of switch terminals and enclosures.

The standard requires that the temperature rise should not exceed the specified limit (such as 50K).

11. Switching ability
Inspection content: Test the on-off capability of the switch at rated current and voltage.

Testing method:

Operate the switch multiple times at rated current and voltage to check if it can safely connect and disconnect the circuit.

12. Normal operation
Inspection content: Simulate the normal use of the switch and perform multiple operations.

Testing method:

Perform a switch operation test (e.g. 10000 times) to check if the switch can work properly and is not damaged.

13. Mechanical strength
Inspection content: Test the mechanical strength of the switch housing and internal structure.

Testing method:

Conduct impact, compression, and other tests on the switch to ensure that its casing and internal structure can withstand certain mechanical stresses.

14. Heat resistance
Inspection content: Test the heat resistance of switch insulation materials.

Testing method:

Place the insulation material of the switch at high temperature (such as 125 ℃) and test whether it deforms or fails.

15. Screws, current carrying components, and connections
Inspection content: Check whether the screws, current carrying components, and their connections in the switch are secure.

Testing method:

Ensure that the screws are tightened and the current carrying components can withstand the rated current without loosening or overheating.

16. Creepage distance, electrical clearance, and sealant penetration distance
Inspection content: Measure the creepage distance and electrical clearance inside the switch.

Testing method:

Use measuring tools to check whether the creepage distance and electrical clearance meet the standard requirements, in order to prevent electrical short circuits or breakdowns.

17. Insulation materials' resistance to abnormal heat, flame resistance, and electrical trace resistance
Resistance to abnormal heat: Test the performance of insulation materials at abnormal high temperatures.

Flame resistance: Test the flame retardancy of insulation materials.

Tracking resistance: Test the tracking resistance of insulation materials under the action of an electric field.

18. Rust prevention
Inspection content: Test the rust prevention performance of switch metal components.

Testing method:

Expose metal components to a humid environment and check for rust.

19. Electromagnetic compatibility requirements (EMC)
Inspection content: Test the performance of the switch in an electromagnetic environment to ensure that it does not generate excessive electromagnetic interference.

Testing method:

Conduct radiation and conduction emission tests to ensure that the switch meets EMC standards.

20. Abnormal conditions
Inspection content: Test the performance of the switch under abnormal conditions, such as short circuit, overload, etc.

Testing method:

Simulate short circuit or overload conditions and check if the switch can safely disconnect the circuit.

summary
These testing items ensure that the appliance switches comply with relevant standard requirements in terms of electrical performance, mechanical performance, material performance, and safety. The switches that pass these tests can be used safely and reliably, and have obtained corresponding certifications (such as CCC, CE, etc.).
