Air tightness test

Airtight test refers to the determination of the airtightness performance of a test sample by measuring the pressure difference between the inner and outer sides of the test sample under certain test conditions. The tightness test refers to injecting a certain amount of gas into the interior of the test sample and monitoring and measuring it for a certain period of time to determine the airtightness performance of the test sample.

Objective of the experiment
The purpose of this experiment is to test the airtightness performance of the sample and evaluate its sealing effect under specific pressure conditions through airtightness and tightness tests. Through experiments, verify whether the airtightness of the sample meets the design requirements, ensuring that it can effectively prevent gas leakage in practical applications.

Experimental Background
Airtightness performance is an important indicator for many products, such as sealed containers, pipelines, electronic device casings, etc., especially in the following applications:

Aerospace: such as the sealing of aircraft doors and fuel tanks.

Automotive industry: such as sealing of engine components and air conditioning systems.

Sealing of electronic devices such as waterproof mobile phones and outdoor electrical equipment.

Sealing of medical equipment such as ventilators and infusion bags.

Insufficient airtightness may lead to gas leakage, affecting product functionality or safety, therefore airtightness and tightness tests are required.

Experimental equipment
Airtight testing equipment:

Pressure sensor: measures the pressure difference between the inner and outer sides of the sample.

Vacuum pump or air pump: used to regulate the internal pressure of the sample.

Sealing fixture: Ensure that the sample is well sealed during the testing process.

Confidentiality experimental equipment:

Gas injection device: Inject gas (such as air or nitrogen) into the interior of the sample.

Flow meter: measures gas leakage.

Pressure gauge: monitors the internal pressure of the sample.

Data collection system: records pressure, flow rate, and other data.

DUT: A product or component that requires testing for its airtightness performance.

Experimental Procedure
airtightness test
Preparation work:

Check the test sample to ensure that it is in good condition.

Install the sample in a sealed fixture to ensure good sealing.

Device settings:

Connect the pressure sensor to ensure that it can accurately measure the pressure difference between the inside and outside of the sample.

Set up a data collection system to record pressure data.

Pressure regulation:

Use a vacuum pump or air pump to adjust the internal pressure of the sample to the set value (such as positive or negative pressure).

Pressure difference measurement:

Record the pressure difference between the inner and outer sides of the sample to determine its airtightness performance.

Data analysis:

Compare the set pressure difference with the actual measured value to evaluate the airtightness performance of the sample.

Confidentiality experiment

Preparation work:

Check the test sample to ensure that it is in good condition.

Install the sample in a sealed fixture to ensure good sealing.

Device settings:

Connect the gas injection device, flow meter, and pressure gauge.

Set up a data collection system to record gas flow and pressure data.

Gas injection:

Inject a certain amount of gas (such as air or nitrogen) into the interior of the sample to reach the set pressure.

Leakage monitoring:

Monitor gas leakage and pressure changes within a certain period of time (such as 10 minutes, 30 minutes).

Data analysis:

Evaluate the airtightness of the sample based on gas leakage and pressure changes.

Experimental precautions

safety first:

Airtightness and tightness tests may involve high-pressure gases, and protective measures should be taken to avoid gas leakage or explosion.

Ensure good ventilation in the experimental environment to avoid gas accumulation and potential hazards.

Sealing inspection:

Before the experiment, ensure that the sample and fixture have good sealing to avoid inaccurate test results due to poor sealing.

Gradually adjust parameters:

When adjusting the pressure, it should be gradually adjusted to avoid instantaneous high pressure damaging the sample.

Real-time monitoring

During the experiment, real-time monitoring of pressure, flow rate, and other data is required to promptly detect any abnormalities.

Experimental results and conclusions

Experimental results:

Record data such as pressure difference and gas leakage during airtightness and tightness tests.

Record the status of the sample during the testing process (such as whether there is leakage and whether the pressure is stable).

Conclusion:

Evaluate the airtightness performance of the sample and confirm whether it meets the design requirements.

If the sample leaks, analyze the cause and provide improvement suggestions.

If the sample has effective airtightness, confirm that it meets the design requirements.

experiment report

The experimental report should include the following contents:

Experimental objective: Briefly describe the objectives of the experiment.

Experimental equipment: List all the equipment used and their specifications.

Experimental steps: Detailed description of the experimental operation process.

Experimental data: Record all test data, including charts and waveforms.

Data analysis: Analyze experimental data to draw conclusions.

Conclusion and Suggestions: Summarize the experimental results and propose improvement suggestions.

Appendix: Typical Parameters for Airtightness and Tightness Tests

Airtightness test:

Pressure range: positive pressure (such as 0.1MPa-1MPa) or negative pressure (such as -0.1MPa-0.01MPa).

Allowable pressure difference value: set according to product requirements (such as ≤ 0.01MPa).

Confidentiality experiment:

Gas types: air, nitrogen, etc.

Injection pressure: Set according to product requirements (such as 0.5MPa, 1MPa).

Monitoring time: usually 10 minutes and 30 minutes.

Allowable leakage rate: set according to product requirements (such as ≤ 0.1mL/min).

Through this experiment, the airtightness performance of the sample can be verified, ensuring that it can effectively prevent gas leakage in practical applications.
