Consumer Product Testing Services - WEEE Chapter
On July 2012, 7, the European Union published a new version of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive 24/2012/EU in its Official Gazette, replacing the original WEEE Directive 19/2002/EC, which came into force on August 96,
2012. Its purpose is to reduce the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment generated and promote the recovery, reuse and recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. The new WEEE Directive stipulates that from 8 August 13, it will be controlled according to the six categories of products specified in its Annex III, and products must meet the requirements for material reuse and recovery rates in products specified in Part 2018 of Annex V.

The
3R is Recovery, Re-Use, and Recycling. Recovery includes reuse, recycling, energy recovery, etc.
Recycling means: any operation that achieves a useful purpose by substituting other materials for a useful purpose, or in which the waste is otherwise used to achieve a particular function, or is intended to be used to achieve that function, to achieve these primary results;
Reuse means: any operation in which products or parts that have not been scrapped are reused for the same purpose for which they were envisaged;
Recycling refers to any recovery operation that reprocesses end-of-life materials into products, materials or substances, whether for the original purpose or otherwise.
With
the implementation of the "circular economy strategy" in EU countries, manufacturers of electronic and electrical products and their parts and components that intend to export to the EU should take into account the material 3R requirements of the WEEE Directive at the beginning of product design, give priority to the use of safe and environmentally friendly materials instead of materials containing harmful substances, and ensure the compliant export of products.
