The Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) recently updated the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) limit regulations for mobile phones and tablets. This new regulation will officially come into effect on April 22, 2026, while also abolishing the original KEPMEN No. 177/2024 decree.

SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) is a key technical indicator for measuring the RF radiation safety of wireless communication devices. The focus of this revision is on the SAR testing process and management standards for mobile phones and tablets.

According to the new regulations, tablets that do not have a speaker function for voice calls close to the ear can be exempted from SAR Head testing. However, devices eligible for this exemption must meet the following conditions:

Provide a formal statement clearly stating that the tablet device does not have speaker functionality for close to ear voice communication;

Submit the technical specification file for the tablet device.

Special reminder: Due to limited testing capabilities of local testing laboratories, temporary declaration letters issued by the laboratories may be temporarily used during the certification process. The validity period of this temporary declaration letter is until July 31, 2027.
