On June 26, 2026, the Australian government released the latest version of the embedded lighting safety standard (mainly revising the Australian deviation section) AS/NZS 60598.2.2:2026.


 

The new standard will be mandatory to replace the previous version AS/NZS 60598.2.2:2016+A1:2017+A2:2021+Rul1:2020 on June 26, 2028

 


 

The revision is mainly based on the new version of IEC standards plus Australian deviations. Overall, it is closer to the requirements of IEC, enhances universality, and facilitates the transfer of IEC reports to Australian certification.

 


 

It is recommended that product manufacturers include the new standard requirements in their product design considerations, in preparation for upgrading the product certification standards to the latest version within the next year!
