On May 22, 2025, SUBTEL issued Resolution No. 737, amending Resolution No. 1985 (on technical standards for short-range telecommunications equipment). The resolution introduced new mandatory radio equipment emission standards, requiring the printing of QR codes on product packaging for compliance verification. This regulation will officially take effect on February 22, 2026.

On November 24, 2025, SUBTEL issued Resolution No. 2219, further supplementing the basis of Resolution No. 737. This regulatory amendment introduces a series of significant updates to Chile's technical standards and certification requirements for Short-Range Devices (SRD), aiming to adapt to industry and technological advancements, streamline the compliance certification process, and more effectively manage radio products and wireless spectrum in Chile.

Key Change Points

Starting from February 22, 2026:

SRD devices for medical purposes only must apply for mandatory certification certificates from SUBTEL in accordance with the original regulatory requirements.

Other SRD devices no longer require mandatory certification certificates but instead demonstrate product compliance and related technical information through QR codes.

Specific requirements for QR codes

Location requirements

It should be affixed to the outer packaging of the equipment in principle. However, if the equipment has no packaging or is not suitable for such affixation, it may be directly attached to the equipment body or included in accompanying paper documents (such as instruction manuals or warranty cards).

Content Requirements

The QR code must direct to a Spanish-language webpage and display the following information as required by regulations:

  · Product Basic Information and Local Agent

  · Product Technical Specifications and Downloadable Test Reports

  · Compliance Declaration

Agent Requirements

If there is no physical importer, a local Chilean agent must be designated and their information must be displayed on the webpage. Information from companies outside Chile is not acceptable.

Transition arrangements

Special transitional arrangements are granted for equipment submitted and certified before February 21, 2026: the QR code-redirected webpage only needs to display the certification document, without the requirement to publicly disclose complete technical parameters or test information.
