IEC 63545 "Safety Requirements for Horticultural Lighting Appliances" is about to be released, and the compliance window is open!

With the rapid application of horticultural lighting in greenhouse planting, plant factories, and vertical agriculture, the electrical safety, photo biological safety, and environmental adaptability requirements of related European products are meeting unified international standards.
IEC 63545, as an upcoming key safety standard, will have a direct impact on the design, testing, and market access of horticultural lighting products. The standard is currently in the pre release stage. After the voting ends on January 30th at the end of this month, if there are no objections, it will be converted into the official version and released in April.
The release of IEC 63545 "Horticultural Lighting Appliances - Safety Requirements" will establish for the first time an independent and systematic safety technical framework for European horticultural lighting applications. Compared to general lighting standards, the new standard focuses more on the actual working conditions of horticultural applications and puts forward clearer and more verifiable requirements for product safety, including:

② The waterproof and dustproof level and specific requirements for external lines of plant close range lighting (such as inter plant lighting), with standard requirements examples:
③ The boundary and usage conditions of photobiological safety assessment for horticultural purposes are limited. Examples of standard requirements include:
When horticultural lamps for industrial or professional use are classified as RG 2 level due to the hazards of ultraviolet and infrared radiation, a nameplate is required.
④ For SREC (safety related electronic circuits, such as controllers for controlling power, lighting time, etc.), safety verification based on IEC 60730-1.
The above requirements will have a direct impact on the risk assessment, structural selection, protection level, material durability, and testing verification of horticultural lamps in the design stage, and become an important technical basis for entering the IEC system market.
