Basic flow for determining SVHC substances:

SVHCs is the abbreviation of Substances of very high concern, that is, substances that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. If a substance is identified as SVHC, it will be added to the candidate list and finally included in the ANNEX XIV to REACH.

LCS recommendations (Tips):

ECHA aims at protecting human health and the environment, devotes itself to the safe use of chemicals and encourages industry to develop safer substitutes. ECHA also undertakes the mission of enhancing the competitiveness of chemicals in Europe, and constantly urges enterprises to comply with the requirements of relevant laws and regulations and fulfill their obligations.

REACH regulations stipulate that when the content of SVHC in the goods supplied in the EU market is more than 0.1% by weight (w/w), information must be transmitted in the supply chain; When the content of SVHC in articles is more than 0.1% by weight (w/w) and the annual export volume is more than 1 ton, it must be notified to ECHA.

According to the requirements of Waste Framework Directive (WFD), since January 5, 2021, companies that supply goods containing substances of very high concern whose concentration on the candidate list is higher than 0.1% by weight (w/w) must submit information about these goods to ECHA. That is, scip (substances of concern in articles as such or in complex objects (products)) notification. SCIP informed that there is no requirement that the annual export volume should be greater than 1 ton.

The SVHC list is generally updated twice a year-once at the beginning of the year and once in the middle of the year. There are more and more substances in the SVHC list-there are currently 240 official substances. At present, enterprises are facing more and more strict control. It is suggested that enterprises exporting products to Europe should do a good job in supply chain inspection and supervision to reduce their own risks and make them more competitive in the market.
