The Indian Bureau of Standards recently released IS 16102 (Part 1): Implementation guidelines for self ballasted LED lights in 2026.

Important revisions to IS 16102 (Part 1): 2026:

The rated input power of the light source has been covered up to 60W.

New requirements for photobiological safety testing have been added.

Added LED lights with non removable rechargeable batteries.

Add requirements for abnormal testing.

New requirements for intrusion protection testing have been added.

New labeling requirements have been added for light bulbs that are not suitable for contact with water.

New labeling requirements for newly added biosafety labels.

New testing requirements for axial strength of screw socket lamp heads.

Test requirements for modifying fault status.
