🔌  IEC 60884-3-1:2021 | The new standard for USB power sockets has arrived! This new standard, released in October 2021, sets strict testing and certification requirements for household sockets that include USB power sources. Is your electrical outlet safe?

Scope of application of the new standard//SCOPE

IEC 60884-3-1:2021 is applicable to fixed or portable sockets for AC input, with or without grounding contacts, rated voltage greater than 50V but not exceeding 440V, rated current not exceeding 32A, used for indoor or outdoor household and similar purposes, including USB power supply. This standard includes safety and EMC requirements for USB powered sockets.

This document does not cover the specifications, performance, and size requirements of USB technology; These contents are detailed in the relevant sections of IEC 62680.
