Recently, there have been many new developments in global communication equipment certification, standards, and regulations, which are crucial for product compliance and market access. Let's take a look!

India TEC: Extension of Certification Exemption and Report Acceptance Period

On December 29, 2025, the Telecom Engineering Center (TEC) of India issued three notices extending the exemptions/simplified measures under the MTCTE certification framework until June 30, 2026. The specific details are as follows:

ILAC Test Report: 5G NR base stations, SIM cards, and VHF/UHF/E-band radio systems can still accept test reports issued by internationally recognized laboratories within the past two years.

PON broadband: Protocol testing continues to be exempted; for test items such as Automatic Laser/Power Shut - Down (ALS/APSD) parameters, compliance self-declaration is accepted.

Exemptions for certain product categories/test items: Products such as Mobile Radio Trunking Systems (MRTS) and Cellular Network Repeaters are exempt from submitting test reports.

Vietnam: EMC and 6GHz Wireless Equipment Standard Updates

New Edition of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Standard

On December 31, 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam (MST) issued Circular No. 52/2025/TT-BKHCN, promulgating the "National Standard for Electromagnetic Compatibility of Mobile Communication System Terminal Equipment and Auxiliary Equipment" (QCVN 86:2025/BKHCN), which will take effect on February 15, 2026, replacing the previous standard. Enterprises may voluntarily choose to conduct testing and declarations under either the new or old standard before December 31, 2026. The new standard will be fully implemented from January 1, 2027. Starting from September 16, 2026, the technical requirements for GSM (2G and 2.5G) will no longer apply.

New National Technical Standard for 6 GHz Wireless Equipment

The official guideline will be released on November 30, 2025, and starting January 1, 2027, QCVN 136:2025/BKHCN will replace QCVN 47:2015/BTTTT as the technical standard for 6 GHz wireless devices, referencing the ETSI harmonized standard.

South Korea: Revision of SAR and Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations

Revised "Standard for Measuring Absorption Rate"

On December 5, 2025, the Korean National Radio Research Agency (RRA) announced the revision of the Specific Absorption Rate Measurement Standard, effective from April 1, 2026, while devices compliant with the previous standard will still be deemed conformant.

Electromagnetic compatibility regulations introduce width radiation immunity

On December 31, 2025, the RRA revised the "Electromagnetic Wave Compliance Standard" regulations by adding broadband radiation immunity testing to Appendix 12, based on the failure of platform safety door systems due to 5G interference. Five test levels were established in accordance with the international standard IEC 61000-4-41.

Papua New Guinea: NICTA Type Certification Update

In December 2025, with the launch of the new application system, the NICTA type certification will undergo changes: all applications must be submitted through the new online system; the certification validity period will change from permanent to three years. Certifications issued before 2021 will become invalid, while certificates originally issued with permanent validity after 2022 will have their expiration date uniformly adjusted to June 10, 2028.

Saudi Arabia: New Electronic Equipment Regulations Implemented in Phases

In January 2026, the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) confirmed the regulation requiring unified USB Type-C interfaces for electronic devices. The first phase, effective January 1, 2026, covers products such as mobile phones, while the second phase, commencing April 1, introduces additional requirements for products like portable computers.

Indonesia: LTE and NR Standard Revisions

On December 19, 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital Information (KOMDIGI) issued a revised document, effective from January 19, 2026. Due to the addition of the B41/n41 frequency band under the new regulations, certified products activating this band must undergo re-certification.

Stay closely informed about the developments in these regulatory standards to ensure smooth entry of your products into the global market and avoid losses due to compliance issues. All parties must promptly make the necessary adjustments!
