Attention! Malaysia's mandatory certification for energy storage batteries has taken effect!

Attention all energy storage battery products planning to enter the Malaysian market! Starting late September 2025, new regulations jointly introduced by the Malaysian Department of Industrial and Trade (MITI) and the Malaysian Standards Research Institute (SIRIM) will officially take effect. At that time, battery energy storage systems will be subject to mandatory SIRIM PCS certification and must display the SIRIM safety label.
This means that if your product intends to be legally imported and sold in Malaysia, it must obtain SIRIM PCS certification and bear the SIRIM safety label. This is the first and most crucial threshold to open the door to the Malaysian market!
Which products require "certification"?
The scope of the new regulations is quite extensive, covering a wide range of battery energy storage systems
Lithium Battery Series: Whether it is for UPS, electric scooters, electric vehicles, mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, or large-scale power storage systems, forklifts, AGVs, and more, there are corresponding standard requirements.
Lead-acid battery series: Products such as backup power, automotive starting, and motorcycle starting lead-acid batteries are also included.
Other types: Other energy storage batteries, such as nickel-based ones, must also comply with the relevant technical specifications.
How to get SIRIM PCS certification?
The authentication process is similar to conventional SIRIM PCS authentication and mainly includes the following steps:
Preparation materials: Organize product technical documents and related reports.
Submit Application: Formally submit the certification application to SIRIM.
Data review: SIRIM will review the submitted materials.
Sampling testing: Samples will be taken and professionally tested.
Factory audit: SIRIM will also conduct quality system audits on production factories.
Certificate issuance: Congratulations on obtaining the SIRIM PCS certification after everything has passed!
Application label: Finally, don't forget to apply and post the SIRIM security label.
Certification Mark: Not a single one should be missing!
Certified products need to prominently display two types of labels on the product body or outer packaging:
MS certification label: This is the product's "ID card" with the words "SIRIM" and certification standard number on it.
SIRIM Security Label: This QR code tag is the key to anti-counterfeiting, as scanning the code can verify product information and effectively prevent counterfeiting.
