Africa:

1.Egypt

NTRA announced to manufacturers and importers on September 1, 2025 that mobile devices that only support 3G technology and do not have higher technical specifications will no longer receive model approval or import from October 1, 2025. However, cellular devices that only support 2G can still receive model approval or import.

Asia:

1.Bangladesh

On August 4, 2025, the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) revoked its previous ban on the import, production, and sale of single band Wi Fi routers. A single band router refers to a Wi Fi router that operates only on one frequency band, typically 2.4 gigahertz (GHz).

The ban was initially issued in November 2024, stipulating that all ISM band Wi Fi routers sold in Bangladesh should support both the 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz bands simultaneously. The announcement to restore the ban on single band routers also requires routers to be mandatory in supporting IPv6 technology.

2.Hong Kong

OFCA has released the latest performance specification HKCA1081lssue2 for 6 GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) wireless communication equipment in Hong Kong, China. The document stipulates that the equipment must operate within the protected frequency range of 5945-6425 GHz.

3.Malaysia

On September 4, 2025, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) issued a notice on its official website with the number SQASI/CMCS/1/25/0005, stating that the new technical specification MCMC MTSFB TC T012:2025 (Land Mobile Radio Equipment - Specification Second Edition) had been officially approved and released on June 26, 2025. The standard mainly revised the frequency range of UHF LMR equipment (i.e. conventional walkie talkies) (updated to 400-450 MHz) and the channel spacing allocation for UHF and VHF.

During the transition period (June 26, 2025 to December 26, 2025): Equipment that meets the old standards can still be obtained

Certificate, but the maximum validity period of the certificate is only 1 year; According to the old standards, certificates can be renewed, but their validity period is also limited to 1 year;

After the transition period (from December 27, 2025): All new applications must fully comply with the new standards. The existing certificate is

Valid until expiration, but must comply with the new standards when renewing the certificate upon expiration;

Specific authentication requirements (for frequency and channel spacing):

Scenario 1: The test report meets MCMC requirements, but the product specifications have a wider frequency range than allowed in Malaysia. A configuration setting statement needs to be submitted to confirm that the default settings comply with MCMC regulations and cannot be modified by the user. All documents must accurately reflect this information.

Scenario 2: If the product specifications or test reports exceed or do not meet MCMC requirements, it must be demonstrated through validation testing or on-site demonstrations that the default settings meet the requirements and cannot be changed. All documents must accurately reflect this information.

New enhanced interoperability requirements: All LMR devices must meet interoperability (interconnectivity) requirements and undergo connectivity testing demonstrations. If the device supports both LMR and cellular networks (such as 4G/5G), its interoperability on both LMR and cellular networks must be demonstrated separately.

America:

1.Brazil

On August 20, 2025, the Brazilian National Telecommunications Authority (ANATEL) issued a letter No. 246/2025/ORCN/SOR-ANATEL confirming that all new and old cellular devices (approved or pending approval) are not allowed to use FDD Band2 (1880-1920 MHz). ANATEL also explicitly states that even during the equipment renewal process, the FDD frequency band cannot be included in the certification consideration scope.
