Classification of drop test

There are four types of falls: directional fall, free fall, micro fall (also known as repeated fall, short fall), and roller fall.

Scope of application

The micro drop testing machine is suitable for small electronic consumer products such as mobile phones, telephone receivers, headphones, walkie talkies, USB drives, MP3 players, CDs, electronic dictionaries, etc., and can meet the drop testing of sample edges, corners, and surfaces.

Applicable standards

Customization within the enterprise.

Testing principle

The micro drop test equipment adopts a high response PLC touch screen control. The upper fixture (pneumatic finger) is driven by a stepper motor to descend and clamp the mobile phone, ascend and release the pneumatic finger, and the mobile phone enters a free fall motion. At this time, the double action cylinder extends and retracts to push the mobile phone to the position where the upper fixture can clamp it. The stepper motor drives the upper fixture (pneumatic finger) to descend and clamp the mobile phone, ascend and release the pneumatic finger, and the mobile phone enters a free fall motion. This process is repeated until the set number of times.

◆ Can set the number of times to automatically stop falling off the surface

◆ Reminder function: It can set a fixed number of button presses and automatically stop the test.

Using a stepper motor as the driving source for lifting and dropping mobile phones, coupled with a precision double action cylinder for return action, it can achieve repeated drops of mobile phones and other products to test the impact resistance of products falling from a certain height;

Adopting pneumatic components and autocratic control methods greatly improves testing speed and consistency;

◆ Can test two large faces, four narrow faces, and four corners of mobile phones or PADs

◆ Transparent protective cover, allowing observation of the damage to the test sample during the experiment.

1. Simultaneously dropping two phones (working independently)

2. Allowable specimen weight: 2kg (max)

3. Drop height: 10-300mm. Compensation value can be set for the starting position height

4. Test speed range: 10-30 times/min. 5. Drop material (optional steel plate, aluminum plate, wooden board) can be customized according to customer requirements

Test case

Sample information: Flat panel battery

Testing requirements and steps:

1) Fully charge the battery (according to the charging conditions specified in the specifications).

2) Tear off the PET release paper of the battery, place the battery in the fixture and stick it together. Press the surface of the battery for 30 seconds.

3) Secure with screws, and clean the battery compartment before placing it into the compartment. No screws or other foreign objects are allowed.

4) According to the standard slight drop, the drop height is 7cm, and the front and back of the prototype are dropped 1500 times each, with a drop speed of 18 ± 2 times per minute; 4 sides, each side drops 1500 times.

5) After the experiment is completed, the battery cells are placed in a high temperature and high humidity box at 55 ℃/RH95% for 24 hours, and the appearance is inspected and photographed for recording.

Test results: After the micro drop test, the battery showed no leakage, deformation (expansion), or overheating; After high temperature and humidity, the battery has no leakage, deformation (expansion), and does not heat up.
