The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) of Canada released RSS-102 Issue 6 on December 15, 2023, titled 'Radio Frequency (RF) Exposure Compliance for Radio Communication Equipment (All Frequency Bands)'. RSS-102 is a standard specification used to evaluate the radiation exposure compliance of wireless communication equipment in close range use and will be officially implemented on December 15, 2024.
ISED provides a 12-month transition period for the new version of the standard, during which certification applications for RSS-102 5th or 6th edition will be accepted. After December 15, 2024, the use of the new 6th edition RSS-102 standard will be mandatory.

RSS-102. SAR.MEAS Issue 1- "Measurement Procedure for Evaluating Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Compliance Based on RSS-102";

RSS-102. NS.MEAS Issue 1- "Measurement Procedure for Evaluating Neural Stimulus Compliance Based on RSS-102";

RSS-102. NS.SIM Issue 1- "Simulation Program for Evaluating Neural Stimulus (NS) Compliance Based on RSS-102";

RSS-102. IPD.MEAS Issue 1- "Measurement Procedure for Evaluating Incident Power Density (IPD) Compliance Based on RSS-102";

RSS-102. IPD.SIM Issue 1- "Simulation Procedure for Evaluating Incident Power Density (IPD) Compliance Based on RSS-102".

1. The new regulations have lowered the SAR exemption test power threshold (for frequency bands above 2450MHz):<3mW, and BT cannot be exempted in the future, requiring additional BT SAR testing;
2. New regulations confirm that the distance for mobile SAR testing: Body Worn testing must be consistent with Hotspot testing at a distance of less than or equal to 10mm;
3. The new regulations add 0mm Hand SAR testing for mobile phone certification, which increases the testing volume by nearly 50% compared to the old regulations. Therefore, the testing time and cycle also need to be increased synchronously.

In summary, RSS-102 Issue 6 provides detailed measurement procedures and various radiation exposure limits aimed at ensuring the safety and compliance of wireless communication devices during close range use.
