On June 12, 2024, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) and Office of Engineering Technology (OET) of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued a notice numbered DA 24-553, allowing spectrum access system (SAS) managers to make changes to the current overall interference model used to protect federal operations in the 3.5 GHz frequency band (3.55-3.7 GHz) from the impact of citizen broadband radio service (CBRS) operations. After the change, it is expected that the CBRS user capacity of this frequency band will significantly increase.
