What is FCC certification?

The FCC, also known as the Federal Communications Commission, was established in 1934 as an independent agency of the United States government, directly reporting to Congress.

According to US federal regulations (CFR 47), most electronic products entering the US market require FCC certification to ensure their compliance in wireless communication.

FCC certification is a mandatory requirement that applies to the vast majority of electronic devices, including wireless devices, communication devices, and other products that use wireless technology. However, there are also some specific products or situations that may be exempted from FCC certification.

This certification is used to ensure that the product complies with US regulations and standards in terms of electromagnetic compatibility, wireless spectrum usage, and wireless communication performance, ensuring public safety and effective operation of wireless communication.

What are the products that FCC certification applies to?
FCC certification applies to all wireless devices and other electronic products sold or supplied to the US market.

That is to say, if the device generates electromagnetic radiation and electronic products that emit and receive radio signals, FCC certification is required.

Specifically, as follows:

● Wireless transmission equipment: such as mobile phones, WiFi devices, Bluetooth devices, wireless transceivers, etc;

● Wired telecommunications equipment: such as telephones, modems, fax machines, telephone line protectors, etc;

● Digital devices: such as computers, servers, printers, copiers, scanners, etc;

● Power equipment: such as power adapters, electric tools, household appliances, etc;

● Other electronic products: such as on-board electronic devices, radar devices, medical devices, etc;

At present, there are two types of FCC certification, and sellers need to first distinguish whether the product is FCC SDoC or FCC ID. Merchants must comply with the platform's requirements when selling products, provide accurate and complete qualification documents, to ensure product compliance and meet market access requirements.
1. Ordinary product - FCC-SDoC
Suitable for ordinary electronic products without wireless transmission function, such as electronic scales, humidifiers, vacuum cleaners, electric fans, etc. If the above products do not have wireless function.

2. Wireless Products - FCC-ID
Specially designed for wireless communication devices, such as mobile phones, wireless keyboards, wireless mice, wireless remote controls, Bluetooth speakers, tablets, and other products.

How is FCC certification compliant?
FCC certification ensures that products comply with US regulations and standards in terms of radio frequency and electromagnetic compatibility. Merchants need to conduct relevant tests on their products, comply with FCC application procedures and labeling requirements, and continuously monitor the latest requirements as regulations update and change.

1、 Requirements for physical image labels

1. FCC ID identification
The FCC requires all manufacturers of radio frequency energy (RF) emitting products to place certification marks (FCC IDs) on their equipment. The FCC ID can be affixed to the product, etched on the outside of the product, or displayed electronically. According to legal regulations, the FCC ID of any product must be clearly visible and in a font that can be read without magnification, for example: FCC ID: XXXXXXXXXX

2. FCC Declaration
The FCC requires all product labels authorized to use FCC SDoC or FCC certification to include one of the following compliance statements:

2、 User manual requirements

According to relevant regulations in the United States, both intentional (FCC ID) and unintentional (FCC SDoC) radio frequency electronic products must include "Information to User" in the instruction manual. The instructions provided to users by "Information to User" should include the following two parts.

1. For relevant electronic devices or peripheral devices, the instructions provided to users should include the following or similar instructions and be prominently placed in the main text of the manual.

2. The user manual should be cautioned that changes or modifications that are not explicitly approved by the regulatory responsible party may invalidate the user's device operation permissions. The example content is as follows:
