UL 8139 Electronic Cigarette Test Terms
Judgment (Hazard) A fire;
B fracture;
C electrolyte leakage;
D exhaust;
The upper limit of charging temperature exceeds the normal working area;
The upper limit of F charging voltage exceeds the normal working area;
The maximum charging current of G exceeds the normal working area;
The discharge temperature limit of H exceeds the battery manufacturing specifications;
The voltage at the end of discharge exceeds the maximum or minimum value in the normal working area;
The maximum discharge current of J exceeds the normal working area;
Cracks or openings on the K shell can damage the integrity of the shell;
The relative change in the open circuit voltage difference between the dropped battery and the reference (non dropped) battery exceeds 5%, as shown in Section 29;
The temperature measured during the M test shall not exceed the limit values specified in Table 26.1.
Normal charging test Each sample should be fully discharged. Then, test the individual samples according to the provisions of individual fault conditions; Charge to a fully charged state; Repeat the above tests in an environment not exceeding 0 ℃
Normal discharge test Each battery should be fully charged in advance and each fault test should be conducted on a single sample. The discharge test should use the manufacturer's specified limit load conditions; Discharge is carried out through a testing instrument, which requires: 1) working for 4 seconds with a suction capacity of 55 milliliters ± 5%; 2) Then turn off for 8 seconds; 3) Repeat the above 15 times for suction; 4) Next is a 10 minute delay. Repeat the above 15 pumping cycles for a 10 minute delay until the battery runs out. Repeat the above tests in an environment not exceeding -20 ℃
Forced discharge test The positive and negative poles of the sample should be connected to a resistive load of less than or equal to 20m Ω, and tested at 25 ± 5 ℃. The sample should be discharged until it reaches a complete discharge state of less than 0.2V, and the cell temperature has recovered to the ambient temperature of ± 10 ℃ or the sample is damaged, whichever occurs first. Repeat the above tests in an environment not higher than -20 ℃
Unbalanced charging A battery cell with approximately 50% battery capacity is connected in series with a fully charged cell to form an unbalanced battery, and then connected to its charger to charge until it is fully charged; The total number of samples shall not be less than two, and at least one sample shall undergo a test without a single fault condition; Repeat the above experiment in an environment not exceeding 0 ℃.
Overcharge test Each fully discharged battery should be continuously charged with constant current at maximum charging current, with the following settings: a) For lithium batteries, the rated output voltage of the power supply is 150%; b) For nickel hydride batteries, charge at a high rate of 2.5 times the recommended charging current until the rated capacity reaches 250%; If the current protection device is triggered during the testing process, repeat the test without triggering the maximum charging current of the protection device. If the battery can still be used after testing, it should be discharged or charged again in an environment of 25 ± 5 ℃; Repeat the above test in an environment not higher than 0 ℃
Short circuit test A fully charged device short-circuit the positive and negative poles of the sample through a resistance of ≤ 20m Ω; The other fully charged device is overloaded to the maximum stable discharge current that can be obtained without triggering the protective device. The sample should be discharged until: a) the battery has been fully discharged; b) The final malfunction occurred and the battery temperature returned to room temperature. If the battery can still be used after testing, perform another discharge or charging operation in an environment of 25 ± 5 ℃. Repeat the above test in an environment not higher than -2 ℃.
Temperature testing

1) The maximum acceptable temperature in Table 26.1 shall not be exceeded.

2) The maximum surface temperature limit in Table 26.2 shall not be exceeded;

3) No permanent damage allowed

Drop Test  Drop three times from a height of 1.5 meters onto a smooth concrete surface. For these three drops, the sample should be tested at the three most unfavorable positions
Compressive strength test Conduct compressive tests according to UL 746C; If the battery can still be used after the test, it should be discharged or charged again in an environment of 25 ± 5 ℃.
Exhaust testing

The device is tested under any of the following conditions:

a) At an initial pressure of 2070 kPa ± 10%, transport a total of 21ml ± 10% of air to the battery room through a hole with a diameter of 2.87 ± 0.05 mm;

b) Directly overvoltage and overcharge the battery, increasing the voltage by 0.1V until exhaust occurs

hot test

Place the fully charged equipment into a low wind speed test chamber and set the temperature inside the chamber to 80 ± 3 ℃ for 8 hours of testing. The temperature change rate inside the test chamber shall not exceed 1 ℃ per minute, the average time shall not exceed 5 minutes, and the relative humidity shall not exceed 50%;

After the high temperature test is completed, the tested equipment should be placed in an environment of 25 ± 5) ℃ for at least 1 hour to cool down to a stable thermal equilibrium state.

3. If the battery pack can still be used after the test, it must be discharged or charged again in an environment of 25 ± 5 ℃.

Note: The above test results cannot contain any clauses (hazards) included in the judgment
