The Saudi Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Quality issued the Technical Regulations on Electromagnetic Compatibility on November 17th, 2023.

The purpose of this technical regulation is to determine the basic requirements of electromagnetic compatibility of equipment, and to determine the conformity assessment procedures that suppliers must abide by, so as to ensure that these products meet the basic requirements aimed at protecting the environment and the health and safety of users, and to promote the market investigation procedures. In order to meet the requirements of this regulation, suppliers must meet the following requirements: the electromagnetic interference generated by equipment shall not exceed the level required to affect the operation of radio, telecommunications equipment or other equipment. The equipment shall be equipped with equipment capable of preventing the expected electromagnetic interference risk in use, so that it can operate normally in the expected use without unacceptable risks. This Regulation shall be used 180 days from the date of promulgation and shall be enforced 365 days after promulgation.
area of application
This regulation includes: equipment defined in the standard in Appendix 1 (84 in total), including multiple product categories, see Appendix 1 for details;
The scope of this regulation does not include:
-Radio and Long Distance Telephone Equipment (R&TTE)
-Aviation and aviation products and parts.
-communication equipment used by amateurs
-medical devices
—Equipment with the following physical characteristics
A. Equipment that cannot generate or generate electromagnetic radiation beyond the acceptability of radio equipment;
B. Telecommunications and other equipment, when operated as expected, will not be affected by other electromagnetic interference generated during normal use.
-Electronic boards specially designed for experts are directly used for research and research.
The description of the equipment must meet the following requirements:
(1) Saudi standard requirements and explanatory data requirements mentioned in Annex (1);
(2) Arabic should be the main language, and it can also be written in other languages except Arabic, and Arabic should be considered;
(3) The images and words used do not violate public order, public morality and Islamic values in Saudi Arabia;
(4) Put the product in a conspicuous place and clearly display the following information:
A. Name and supplier information B. Brand C. Country of origin D. Warning and safe disposal after use E. Use warning words
Procedures for supplier declaration of conformity:
(1) The supplier responsible for placing and displaying controlled equipment in the market must issue a supplier declaration, and the format listed in the declaration of conformity is consistent with the format listed in the internal control procedure of production;
(2) The technical documents contained in the annex are attached to the production internal control procedures and products;
(3) The supplier must keep the procedures that conform to the regulations, so as to ensure that the requirements specified in this technology are met;
(4) Equipment with Saudi quality label meets the technical requirements.
