On September 18, 2023, the revised draft of Saudi Energy Efficiency SASO-2902:2018/AMD2:2023 "Energy Efficiency, Function, and Labeling Requirements for Lighting Products - Part 2" was solicited for comments. Therefore, the standards may change. The purpose of revising standard SASO-2902: 2018 is to further clarify some requirements and ensure the ideal application of the standard. Added some definitions, as well as requirements for labeling and exempting products. Consumer information, labeling, and environmental protection.
The expected changes are as follows:

Delete harmful substances from regulatory parameters.

Add the definition of expandable LED modules and chandeliers.

Add clause
Add requirements for LED light strips or light strings:
Declare the rated power and rated luminous flux as 1 meter;
Test at 0.5 meters to produce a report.

Exempt products
The product exemption is mainly used for non lighting purposes.
Add:
RGB or RGB/W lamps;
Floor lamp, desk lamp, wall lamp;
Pendant lights (excluding suspended strip lights, suspended panel lights, and suspended mining lights).

Products exempted due to technical reasons
Add:
Lamp due to product weight exceeding 50kg; The product length exceeds 2 meters; Unable to conduct testing;
The beam angle of the lamp is less than 10 °;
The IP rating of the lighting fixtures is IP65 or higher (excluding floodlights and street lights).

Product packaging information
Add:
IP level;
For expandable linear LED modules, the rated power and rated luminous flux are declared per meter in terms of luminous efficiency.

Chapter on removing harmful substances from light sources to control devices
The above is the expected update for Saudi Energy Efficiency SASO-2902: 2023 version, which is expected to take effect in one year.
