Chile SUBTEL issued Regulations 1985 and 2844 for WIFI products.
SUBTEL updated Res. 1985 and 2844 to adjust WiFi 6E's band and update its power limits.
The main updates are as follows:
1) Medical equipment with operating frequency of 2.4GHz and Max EIRP of 1W after updating;
2) The original 10mW transmitted power and the antenna with a maximum gain of 40dB are replaced by a maximum EIRP limit of 50dBm;
3) Update WiFi 6E band to 5925-6425MHz.
Only WiFi 6E CE RF reports will be accepted until WRC-23 resolution is finally issued.
The Philippines
The Philippine NTC has updated its mobile phone protection directive.
On September 14, 2022, NTC issued Memorandum No. 006-09-2022 Directive: Local representatives, distributors and resellers of mobile phone manufacturers are required to inform the public about mobile phone protection features in various ways, such as but not limited to:
1. Provide mobile users with instructions on how to block messages from mobile phone numbers that are not in their contact list and how to create spam folders in their inboxes. These guidelines need to be available through the manufacturer's website and social media accounts (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, etc.);
2. Put up posters in physical stores instructing phone buyers how to use, enable or activate message blocking, spam folders and other similar features in their phones; and
3. Include an insert or flyer with each new phone package that contains instructions on how to use, enable, or activate text blocking, spam folders, and other similar features in your phone.
The above measures shall take effect within fifteen (15) days of the release of this Memorandum and shall be part of the NTC's application for mandatory type approval procedure.
Pakistan
Pakistan has released the draft Telecommunications Equipment Standards Bill 2022.
The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has released the Telecom Equipment Standard Bill 2022. The document sets out mandatory tests and describes standards for various types of telecommunications equipment.
The Pakistani authorities have adopted the international requirements for telecommunications equipment, listing minimum technical standards, in particular the following:
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC);
- Health and safety;
- Radio frequency (RF) communication;
- Human exposure.
The draft also describes the technical specifications for each standard.
Japan
Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications issued a provincial order on WLAN system modification.
On September 2, 2022, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan issued a provincial order to partially revise radio enforcement regulations related to WLAN systems. (Ordinance No. - 59)
Major changes include:
1) A frequency band of 5925-6425 MHz was added for low-power indoor (LPI) equipment with a maximum effective EIRP of 200mW. This frequency band is for indoor use only;
2) Add 5925-6425mhz band for ultra-low power (VLP) equipment, and EIRP cannot exceed 25mW. Indoor/outdoor use allowed;
3) The 5150-5250MHz band is now allowed in cars with a maximum EIRP of 40mW.
Nigeria
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has updated the specific requirements regarding wireless samples, as well as the product categories approved by the series models.
The following product categories require a sales sample to be provided to NCC for certification:
- Laptop;
- flat plate;
- Mobile phones;
- Mouse and keyboard;
- smartphones;
- WIFI modem;
- Bluetooth speaker;
- Digital camera (wireless or wired);
- The printer.
In addition to the products listed above, NCC will determine whether it is necessary to provide samples for other product categories on a case-by-case basis. All samples will be kept by NCC.
Mexico
Mexico releases IFT-011:2022 part 3 for mobile devices.
IFETEL of Mexico has published technical regulations for IFT-011-2022 part 3. According to the technical regulations, mobile terminal devices (cell phones and/or smart phones) must support cellular broadcasting service (CBS) for receiving and processing alert information caused by risk or emergency.
IFT-011-2022 part 3 will be implemented on March 12, 2023 (180 days after publication).
Jordan
Jordan's TRC will launch 5G technology in cooperation with three operators, which will have a great impact on communication products.
Jordan's Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) has reached an agreement with three operators to roll out 5G technology in Jordan. A portion of the 3,400-3,800 MHz band will be allocated to 5G operators and will be launched within 18 months.
China
China has recently issued new requirements, including the following products as CCC mandatory product requirements.
1. Lithium-ion batteries and battery packs for electronic and electrical products and mobile power supply;
2. Power adapter/charger for telecommunication terminal products.
Brazil
On October 10, 2022, ANATEL, the Brazilian National Communications Agency, issued official document No. 218/2022. This document gives a normative explanation of the definition of detachable RF module and non-detachable RF module, and puts forward clear requirements for the certification and approval procedures of different types of products containing these two RF modules, which can be summarized as the following table:
