Why do we need to make fixtures?

There are a wide variety of electrical and electronic products with varying shapes and sizes, so matching fixtures are usually designed for testing during vibration and impact tests. The fixture is used to firmly fix the test piece on the workbench of the vibration table and transmit the vibration of the vibration table to the test piece, and its quality directly affects the quality of the test.

The purpose of vibration test fixtures

When the volume of the specimen is relatively small and the shape is regular, the sample can be firmly fixed on the vibration table liner screw using screws or pressure plates.

But when the specimen volume is large and the shape is complex and irregular, this fixing method is obviously very difficult. In this case, it is necessary to make a specific fixture, install the specimen on the fixture, and then firmly fix the fixture on the vibration table. Therefore, in reality, the fixture is the carrier connecting the specimen to the vibration table, and its function is to transmit the vibration and energy of the vibration table to the specimen without distortion.

What are the types of vibration test fixtures?

Due to the variety of experimental products or objects with different shapes, it is difficult for various companies to use universal fixtures to complete experiments. Testing engineers need to design them themselves. Here are a few commonly used fixture shapes for reference:

L-shaped fixture

L-shaped fixtures are suitable for multi axial testing, with the advantages of good stiffness and easy disassembly when changing direction.

Cubic fixture

The cube fixture is suitable for multi axial vibration and impact testing of small components, and can be directly fixed on the vibration table. The closed feature determines its high stiffness.

T-shaped fixture

The T-shaped fixture is similar to the L-shaped fixture. Advantages: Symmetric structure, allowing for simultaneous installation of specimens on both sides in the vertical direction, allowing the joint centerline of the fixture and specimen to pass through the central axis of the table.

Flat type fixture

The function of a flat fixture is to connect the specimen to the vibration table. Without such a plate, it is rare to directly connect the specimen to the vibration table for vibration or impact testing. In addition, this type of board reduces the wear of the lining on the vibration table and the risk of the lining coming out of the table.

Plate shaped fixture

Plate shaped fixtures are the simplest types of fixtures, including wooden and aluminum fixtures. Plate shaped fixtures can also serve as adapter plates, with multiple small fixtures installed on them. This not only improves efficiency but also reduces wear on the tabletop threads.

Conical fixture

Cone shaped fixtures are suitable for large specimens and can increase the effective surface area of the specimen. They use ribbed structures to increase stiffness and weight ratio, using casting or welding forming processes.

Transition frame type fixture

The transition frame type fixture is mainly used for testing the entire product, and this type of fixture should be designed according to the shape of the test sample. So samples of different shapes have different shapes of their fixtures. The shape, stiffness, and strength of the transition frame type fixture should be as close as possible to the actual use of the sample.
