Due to the controversy surrounding the use of balance scooters in torsion cars, the Consumer Products Association of America (CPSC) has announced that all manufacturers, importers, and distributors of balance cars (including torsion cars) must comply with new standards for balance cars produced, imported, and sold in the United States, including the UL2272 Balance Car Circuit System Certification Standard and the UL2271 Balance Car Lithium Battery New Standard. In addition, all balanced vehicle batteries must meet the UN38.3 certification requirements.

The batteries used in road passenger electric vehicles and heavy-duty off-road electric vehicles are suitable for UL 2580, ISO 12405
