Introduction about CEC certification

The CEC certification is an Appliance Efficiency Regulation implemented by the California Energy Commission of California on December 30, 2005.The aim of the regulation is to increase the efficiency of electricity production, save energy, reduce emissions and greenhouse effect.

As more and more electronic products appear in daily life, "energy saving" will become an urgent problem for everyone in the 21st century. The California Energy Commission (California Energy themselves, CEC) on July 1, 2006 for AC - DC and AC - AC external power supply of the mandatory Energy efficiency in the implementation of new standards, at the appointed time, almost all electronic products will be hit.

The standard will cover all the use of external power supply, such as the charger and adapter products, including mobile phones, cordless phones, portable music players, handheld games, toys, etc., and require these products in standby and using condition in a more efficient way to use energy.

This means that after mid-2006, all transformers, external power supplies, adapters, and chargers destined for the United States will have to be changed.

In addition to saving energy, CEC's new specifications will also have a significant impact on the environment.According to the company, if all external power supply in California can follow the new standard, the California every year will reduce the amount of more than 360000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission, the number is equivalent to 60000 cars annually dosage.

The rules and regulations, electrical product sales in California in the United States must first meet the equipment energy efficiency regulations, the regulation for 58 type electrical products indicate energy efficiency requirements, measurement method and phased implementation plan. According to the regulations, the electrical products must be tested by the qualification laboratory in accordance with the relevant regulations or standards of the United States, which can be sold in the us state of California after the requirements are met.

CEC certification test method

Foreword

CEC, short for the California energy commission, is responsible for moving energy markets toward a healthy competition

Starting from July 1, 2006, any external power supply (AC/AC, AC/DC adaptor) export California in the United States, would have to meet in California energy efficiency regulations issued by the California energy commission, the California energy efficiency regulations was developed on the basis of United States energy star and into a new energy efficiency regulations.

Below, we analyze the specific scope, definition, test, flag and cautions of CEC certification.

Scope

The definition of the external power supply of CEC is the AC/DC or AC/AC external power adapter for single-phase voltage input.

Definition

Here, we introduce some of the nouns in CEC's test standards, such as

⑴ Active Mode

⑵ Active Mode Efficiency

⑶ No Load

⑷ No Load Power

⑸ UUT :Short for UNIT UNDER TEST

⑹ Ambient Temperature

⑺ Power Factor (True)

⑻ Total Harmonic Distortion (THD)

⑼ Apparent Power (S)

⑽ Nameplate Input Voltage

⑾ Nameplate Input Frequency

⑿ Nameplate Output Voltage

⒀ Nameplate Output Current

Test

(1)summary:

Test adjustment, unless otherwise specified, will be tested under the following test conditions.

(2)Test instruments:

The power measurement must be tested with a calibrated voltammeter or a power analyzer. The instrument must be calibrated according to the IEC 62301 standard, and the error must be less than or equal to 2% when the test power is 0.5 W. The error must be less than 0.01W when the test power is less than 0.5w.The accuracy of the instrument with power test must be 0.01W or better. The test voltage and current error must be less than or equal to 2%.

(3) Test room:

According to the requirements of the IEC 62301 standard, the test room air flow must be 0.5 m/s or less, the surrounding environment temperature must be controlled in the range of 23 ℃ + 5 ℃, the sample must be placed without heat transfer experiment platform for testing. Products that are used outdoors must be stated in the report if there are additional test requirements.

(4) Test voltage

According to the standard requirements of IEC 62301, the fluctuation range of test voltage cannot exceed the specified test voltage of plus or minus 1%, and the specified test frequency is plus or minus 1%.If the input voltage is wide voltage nameplate target, the test voltage is 115 v / 60 hz and 230 v / 50 hz two cases, if the nameplate marking is a single input voltage, the test voltage for the above two test voltage close to one of them.

(5) Outcome judgment

The state of California can follow the rules from July 1, 2006. In the United States, California must meet the average energy efficiency requirements and no-load power requirements of the following tables (see table 1).

From January 1, 2008, the United States of California must meet the new average energy efficiency requirements and the no-load power requirements of TABLE2 as shown in table 2 (see table 2)

All tests must be considered in the nameplate of the output current of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% of the load (note: the load error range can not more than plus or minus 2%), respectively record the input power, input current, power factor, output voltage, and THD (total harmonic distortion), and then according to the

Energy efficiency = (output voltage * output current)/input power

To calculate the current value of energy efficiency and 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% four load cases measured average value of energy efficiency, get the average value of energy efficiency, on the other hand, would have to test the output current for 0% of the load when the input power value, the above test of the proceeds of the average value of energy efficiency and no-load power value according to the TABLE1 and TABLE2 limit requirements to determine which is in line with the symbol of energy efficiency.
