The latest standard for paper products and bamboo and wood products for food contact materials
On July 28, 2022, the National Health and Health Commission released Announcement No. 3 of 2022 on its official website, and released 36 new national food safety standards, including 3 food contact material standards, 2 product standards and 1 testing. The full text of the method standard can be downloaded from the official website (https://sppt.cfsa.net.cn:8086/db).
The two new product standards released this time are:
1. GB4806.8-2022 "National Food Safety Standard for Food Contact Paper and Cardboard Materials and Products", the implementation date is June 30, 2023;
Compared with the old standard (GB4806.8-2016), the indicator of potassium permanganate consumption has been deleted in the revised standard, because lignin, total sugar and other substances in paper products are the main contribution of this indicator of potassium permanganate consumption. source, these natural substances do not cause harm to the human body. The organoleptic requirements have been revised so that discoloration of unbleached and uncolored paper and board is not considered abnormal coloration. And according to the risk assessment results, 1,3-dichloro-2-propanol (migration limit cannot be detected, DL=2ug/L) and 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol (migration limit 12ug/L) in paper products /L) residual indicators. Relevant manufacturers should strictly control the residues of chloropropanol in food contact paper and cardboard materials and products to ensure that they meet the limit requirements.
2. GB4806.12-2022 "National Food Safety Standard for Food Contact Bamboo and Wood Materials and Products", the implementation date is December 30, 2022;
It is the first national food safety standard for food contact bamboo and wood products newly formulated in my country. Bamboo and wood products referred to in this standard refer to materials and products made from bamboo, wood or cork, including cork stoppers and plant fiberboard products.
(1) Sensory requirements
(2) Migrant indicators include:
(3) Residue indicators include:
(4) Other requirements
Microorganisms of bamboo and wood products that are expected to come into direct contact with food and are used directly without disinfection or cleaning shall comply with the provisions of GB14934. Except for bamboo and wood products that need to be peeled, hulled or washed before eating, cooking or processing.
Bamboo and wood products using coatings, inks and (or) adhesives should also comply with the relevant regulations for coatings, inks and (or) adhesives.
A newly released test method standard is:
1. GB31604.53-2022 "Determination of Migration of 5-Ethylidene-2-Norbornene in National Food Safety Standards for Food Contact Materials and Products", the implementation date is December 30, 2022.
5-Ethylidene-2-norbornene in food contact materials is mainly derived from EPDM rubber and other materials. The migration limit of 5-ethylidene-2-norbornene is not required in the relevant product standards. higher than 0.05mg/kg. This standard has a detection limit of 0.001mg/kg and a limit of quantification of 0.003mg/kg for water-based, acidic and ethanol-containing food simulants; for oil-containing food simulants and chemical alternative solvents, the method detection limit is 0.01mg/kg kg, the limit of quantification is 0.03 mg/kg. The release of this standard provides a scientific detection method for further strengthening the safety management and control of food contact materials such as EPDM rubber.
